It’s been a long time since I wrote a blog, but let’s give it a try. So much has happened since my last entry that it’s difficult to know where to begin. I think I’ll begin at the end and work my way backwards. At the end of 2023, hubby and I moved from Arizona to Florida. We loved Arizona, and lived there for over ten years, but now we love Florida! We can be at the ocean in twenty minutes. What’s not to love about that! The weather, as summer begins, is getting hot and muggy, but we once lived in the South, where it’s also hot and muggy, and we survived.
Before moving we worked for months updating our Arizona home to get it ready to sell, which meant I had little time to finish Belonging, the second book in the Bountiful Series. When we started our house project, I had almost completed the story, but put it aside for the time being. A few months after we arrived in Florida, I knew it was time to finish book two. So what is the book about? It’s about two romance stories (maybe three, if I’m being technical). It’s about family drama. No one is exempt from that. It’s about a mystery that begins during World War II. Who is the protagonist? Her name is Star Castillo and she is an accomplished, and quirky, artist ready to reinvent herself. Midlife crisis? The hero is Dave Santoro, a burly guy who was betrayed by a family member. He is also an artist but doesn’t let anyone know. Fear of criticism? Fear of failure? As for the mystery, it is revealed through a discovery of journals. My lips (pen) is sealed about that one. When searching for a book cover picture, I wanted to keep with the theme of the Oregon coastline (I once lived in Oregon, too, and loved it!). The photo I chose shows the sun lighting the path to a new day, which is significant to the story, after much conflict. The book is scheduled for release on June 25, 2024, but is available for presale now. Regarding another project, I guess you could say, I’ve been very busy lately. Amazon has a feature called Kindle Vella, which allows an author to upload a story in installments. Many years ago, I started a sci-fi titled The Ordinaries, but always had brain fog when it came to the latter half of the tale. I finally decided to give it another try as a Kindle Vella story, and voila, it came together in a completely different version than I had imagined. Here is the blurb for that story: He's a Clone. She's an Ordinary. He terminates Ordinaries... but spares her life. Now they're both on the run. It’s thirteen chapters and complete. I really like the Kindle Vella project, and maybe you will too. So, what am I doing now? I'm listening to my imagination and waiting for my next storyline.
