Dream Kisses: Romance on the Ranch Series
Readers Favorite (Lisa McCombs): 5 stars!
Mims Murphy is not your stereotypical romance author. She feels "average" and not overly desirable as a woman, but she enjoys telling stories about irrefutable, passion filled romance. When she meets the model for her latest romance novel, she is reminded that she doesn't fit in the population of "beautiful people". Sage is chiseled...the proverbial "hunk" that sells the cover stories she likes to tell. He is not real in his availability to someone like herself. He belongs to a place surrounded by swim suit models and medically enhanced media stars. Little does she know the real Sage...the real life cowboy and single parent of a teenage daughter. Mims a.k.a. Sarah discovers the "real" Sage when she travels to a dud ranch to research for her current writing venture.
I haven't enjoyed such a read in a long while. Romance novels are so often wound around similar plots and flowery vocabulary, but "Dream Kisses" is a pleasant piece of pastry on a rainy day. It is that forbidden square of chocolate that gives hope to the hopeful romantic. Verna Clay has woven the perfect amount of words into the perfect start to her new series. The plot is believable and a lovely balance of romance and reality. Not an avid romance fanatic myself, I was pleasantly surprised to be irresistibly pulled into the story and am anxious to read more about the characters introduced in this first installment. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with Sarah and Sage.

Fawn: Shapeling Trilogy Book Two: Master
Readers Favorite (Anne B.): 4 stars!
Fawn is not human; she is a Shapeling and has earned her rank of Master Shapeling. The thirteen co-princes send Fawn on a mission to help Zoe, a seven year old motherless girl. Zoe hears voices that frighten her. She screams and misbehaves. Her father Wade has found it impossible to keep a nanny. When he saw Fawn for the first time he had little hope that she would last more than a day. Much to his surprise Fawn not only lasted more than a day but she quickly took to life on the ranch and earned a special place in both Zoe and Wade's heart. However, life is never that easy and danger lay ahead. Can Wade come to terms with Zoe's true identity? Can Fawn help Zoe learn to listen to the voices? Will evil win?
"Fawn" is a delightful read. I enjoy Shapeshifter tales; unfortunately too often they are too graphic. Not so with Verna Clay's latest book. She skillfully developed a suspenseful, romantic, sensual plot without crossing the boundary between tastefulness and tastelessness. In Book Two of Shapeling Trilogy we meet Fawn. I was glad the author gave us a hint of background information to set the stage for Fawn. The author has a distinct talent for creating a strong plot. She set the stage for danger and romance and allowed the reader to watch as it all unfolded before her/him. I enjoyed the way the romance was allowed to slowly build to a crescendo. All in all this is a good, fast read, the kind I enjoy on a cold day when I curl up in front of a fire. I have not read the first book in this series. I will be watching for more books by this author.

Fawn is about to embark on her first mission as a Shapeling Master. She has been sent by the thirteen co-Princes to protect and assist a troubled young girl. What she finds at the Dream Catcher Ranch is so much more than she planned for.
I absolutely love this book. Having not read the first book in the series I was somewhat concerned that I would be lost but Vera Clay did a fantastic job of integrating information from book one into book two so I was not at all confused. The story flows well and keeps the reader’s attention. The characters are well written and endearing and the scenes are very well described.
My favorite character in the story is actually the little girl Zoe. She is a sweet child but she is very special and that specialness is hard for most people to deal with. Once Fawn is there to help her deal with her abilities the sweet little girl is able to shine through.
Fawn is a fantastic story with a beautiful ending that brought tears to my eyes.
I cannot wait to read the next installment of this great series.

Roth: Shapeling Trilogy Book One: Protector
Alisha Robinson Book Review: 5 bunnies...er...stars!
I didn't like Roth. I know everyone loves to read these novels where they fall in love right away with the man and long to be the woman in the novel. I'm not like that. I love to hate the man, the more I dislike him in the beginning the better he gets once I start to love him. Roth hit his low point when he was with Fawn ... if you want to know what I mean you'll have to read it! At that point I thought, nope no way I'm, going to like him if this is how it's going down. Sure, Rainey isn't pretty, she isn't the soft, small damsel in distress. She has a sharp tongue, quick wit, and ample bosom. Still, she deserved the best that Roth could give. I'm glad in the end he delivered!
The story of how Roth comes to be with Rainey was interesting and throughout the book I couldn't help but wonder what the hell is going on here? I loved it. The whole thing kept me guessing. When I thought I had it something else came out from left field and I was left going, HUH?! This was the last book for to me read this month and since I had no set due date I waited until I finished everything else to start. I wish I hadn't! I read this novel in an hour. I couldn't put it down, I couldn't help but just keep reading.
I'm thrilled to see this is a trilogy and I can't wait for the next in the series to come out. Verna, if you need a reviewer for the next book look no further!

Hampton Reviews (DallasFunk): 4 stars!
Shapeling Trilogy: Roth: Book One: Protector is fantasy romance novel (without the stereotypical sex scenes). It follows the story of Roth, who is a member of the Shapeling species and can shapeshift into a wide-variety of animals, and Rainey, a human woman that is in charge of a scientific experiment with the potential to change the world. They are introduced to each other when Roth’s ruling council assigns him to guard Rainey and Rainey’s dad hires Roth to be her bodyguard. Rainey objects at the presence of another bodyguard and sparks ensue.
The editing quality of this book is good. The formatting is professional looking and comes complete with a copyright page and a dedication page. There are some typos throughout the book (one missing word and a few wrong words, such as using the word make instead of take) and the occasional error with missing or additional quotation marks. However, while they are certainly noticeable, they do not pull the reader out of the flow of the story.
The plot was clearly well-thought out and planned. The glimpses of Roth’s Shapeling society were intriguing and leave the reader looking forward to learning more about it in the last two books of the trilogy. Shifting from one event to another was a little abrupt, with no real transitions from any of event to any other event. The fact that this book is about an heiress on the verge of a scientific breakthrough who requires protection, however, means that this lack of transitions actually fits the book.
The characters were also rich and thoroughly developed. Roth, as both a bodyguard and a Shapeling, is a strong man with a strong personality. It fits and works well with the plot and his role within the story. The author does a good job of keeping his actions and personality consistent throughout the story. Rainey is stubborn and, surprising for her role as a scientist, narrow-minded. She also has a high degree of focus. Her personality allows her to stand-up to Roth, but at times makes her seem young and naive. The personal growth of the characters, much like the plot, makes some abrupt jumps forward and, while it does not actually detract from the story, leaves the reader wishing just a little more time was spent in transitioning the characters. This is also true of the relationship between Roth and Rainey.
The descriptions in the book--especially those of locations--were thorough and provided a good picture in the reader’s mind. It was simple to imagine where the characters were, what was happening to them, and what they looked like. Some of the locations seemed too good to be real and it was nice that the author added a note about their actual existence at the beginning of the book.
The author’s writing style was easy to read and made for an enjoyable escape. The book moved along at a good pace, without actually feeling rushed, and told a lot of story in a concise manner. When the book finally draws to a close, the reader is left eager to know what happens to Roth and Rainey and ready to move on to the second book in the series.
I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys books such as Christine Feehan's Carpathian novels.
First of all, I love the cover art on this book! It is outstanding.
Second of all, I throughly enjoyed this book. Roth's character is the strong alpha male type. He is physically strong with lots of wonderful 'protective' qualities. He wants nothing more than to be a Shapeling Master. But at the same time you get the sense he is trying to protect his heart. Now Rainey, she is a total rich kid, silver spoon, and all that, and smart to boot. But none of this gives her what she really wants which is freedom to just "be".
As I read, I thought I knew what to expect. I thought I had it all figured out. I can't say what I mean without ruining the mystery but the closer I got to the end the more I felt like I was reading a Sherlock Holmes novel! No way could I have figured out the ending without the author just laying it out for me. It took my by complete surprise.

11:11 Countdown to 2012
Eva's Sanctuary (Eva Cutter Coppersmith): 4 stars!
...This is an extremely interesting and fascinating book. The author weaves lots of the Mayan calender history and events into the story through Theo's "book." I found this to be quite unique in the way it was presented. Even though I found it fascinating, I became bogged down sometimes because I really had no clue as to what the history was actually telling me. This in no way, however, deterred from the story. Theo sounds like the kind of man that dreams are made of. Eve has a rather poor self-esteem issue so she is actually insecure. A bit of a loner, she relishes the attention she receives from Theo. During their travels together, Eve grows and becomes more secure in the woman that she truly is. There is obviously some chemistry between these two; but it is not until close to the end that we discover why Theo is fighting it. The storyline is well written and flows nicely throughout. If you enjoy stories that are a bit out of the ordinary, you will surely enjoy this one. I highly recommend it.

I had to start with this quote because it sums up how I felt while I read this book. This type of book is not something I would normally search out, but I have to say it was one of the best that I've read in awhile.
The author was able to take some very 'interesting' ideas and weave them together in away that worked as well as made sense. I won't tell anymore because I don't want to spoil it for you.
I highly recommend this read.

Just finished 11:11. I rarely, if ever, pleasure read. Since it sounds like a great idea I start books but never get past chapter 2. So, to finish a book says a lot about my resolve and your writing. Yes the first few chapters were written by a chick for chicks, but then it got me hooked. Travel to exotic places I have always wanted to go, mysteries, suspense, crop circles, ancient cities and (spoiler)... heck, my kind of stuff. I think it would make a great movie. Seriously, not just saying that.

Jazmine
Amazon Reader (Elizabeth Sullivan, Ph.D.): 5 stars!
With an appeal to the young-at-heart, Jazmine is a delightful tale. Sprinkled with the fairy dust of humor this novella is an enjoyable quick read.
As a clinical psychologist, I applaud Verna Clay for accurately tackling the subject of grief. Her fluid style succinctly describes the impact of loss on a father and son. Her sensitivity, transmitted through the character of Jazmine, pinpoints essential steps toward emotional healing.

The Theory of Everything
Amazon Reviewer (Felicia Rogers): 4 stars!
The Theory of Everything is a romantic suspense filled with energy. Rafe has lost his wife, and thereby a part of himself. Struggling to live past her death, he searches for the theory of everything. This leads him to Mariel in a roundabout way...which I will not mention for fear of ruining this book.
Ms. Clay is amazing in her vast research of people and places. She takes the couple on a whirlwind adventure through countries on their search for everything. The imagery and descriptions will make you feel like you personally visited these places.

Ella Montclair is a single woman with nothing holding her back in the states except the memory of her life. She travels to London to begin a new memory; a new life. She is fascinated with history and is offered a job as a researcher for Sir Byron Thomas. Little did she know that the poem which dwelled in her spirit and she remembered by heart was part of past in another place and time. A visit to an old mansion sends her whirling into the past only to help her understand what the poem represented.
I must say that I enjoyed the short tale of Ella Montclair and her lover. It was uniquely written and drew me into the past. I enjoy reading books that I can actually picture in my mind as it happens.

Long and Short Review (Camellia): 3.5 stars!
A short trip from the twenty-first century back to nineteenth century England and back again is a great escape.
Ella’s research project takes her first to Thomas Manor then to Farnham Castle where she lands back in time when she touches the face of a man in an old portrait. She becomes a servant (and more) in Sir Wallace Hastings household.
Far Into Yesterday is a good story to unwind with at the end of a busy day. Park your disbelief on the nightstand beside your day planner, pile up the pillows just right, and settle in for a vicarious experience with college-educated, jeans-wearing Ella whose language and actions reflect how she lives in twenty-first century America. Of course, when she meets the proper Sir Wallace Hastings of nineteenth-century England, who thinks she probably escaped from Bedlam, her life changes dramatically. The social mores and living conditions she must cope with in her nineteenth-century life are less than pleasing, but she finds Sir Wallace Hastings most pleasing.
It is delightful to see how these Ella and Wallace bridge a huge gap in time to connect on many levels. The crude expletives detract from the heroine’s appeal, but they were brief and her positive, outgoing, and giving personality endear her to the reader. Of course, Sir Wallace Hastings is a hero that copes with the changes in his life in an admirable fashion that brings the story to a somewhat surprising but most satisfying happy-ever-after.

Wow! I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this novella. The characters were developed, the plot moved rapidly, and I really wanted to know what was going to happen next. I only have one issue, I wish that it would have lasted longer!

Ghost Writer Reviews (Wanda): 4 stars!
